Teaching students with special needs through digital media at universities is a Guidebook aiming to report a first analysis about new teaching strategies in distance learning and how new technologies can help teachers and students with special needs to obtain an effective classroom and to increase the quality of the learning process. In particular, these Guidelines focuses on two separate aspects of distance learning: classroom at university level and students with special needs. This choice is based on (at least) two separate reasons: first of all, because at university level attention to students with special needs is just sketched out; secondly, because digital tools are a common instrument in our time, but very often they are not effectively used during teaching activities, even if this could help to include more students, especially those with special needs. In other words, in this Guidebook we are interested in understanding what universities can do to create more inclusive classroom especially for students with special needs and which kind of support new technologies can provide to teachers and students

Another BioS transnational partner meeting was planned in Berlin in May 2020. However, due to the current pandemic situation and the restrictions resulting from it, the consortium was not able to meet in person and had to conduct the meeting online.
Maybe it was the expertise all partners have gained during last weeks in communicating and collaborating digitally, maybe it is the spirit of reaching the finish line of the project – either way, the online meeting was a full success. Many topics have been discussed, new ideas and strategies created, and solutions to challenges found. Also, we found that brainstorming works extremely well even at a distance of 2.000 km.
At the moment, BioS project is unfolding as the first round of learners are completing the BioS Course on Digital Skills on Computational Biology for Health Professionals. The consortium is proud to already count 800 enrolments to the BioS MOOC. The feedback we gain at this stage from learners as well as from external experts, helps us to further improve the course and adapt it to the needs and requirements of our focus group.
Next to course conduction and refinement, the consortium focuses on exploitation activities and prepares additional webinars, which will provide more interesting case studies on Bioinformatics and complete the course experience.
Registration to the free BioS Course is possible under: https://mooc.bios-project.eu/

For the fourth time during our project lifespan, the BioS consortium has met in Limassol, Cyprus.
As the preceding partnership onsite meetings, the conference lasted two full days and was conducted in the meeting facilities of the German Oncology Centre (https://www.goc.com.cy/) in Cyprus.
The German Oncology Centre is one of the 13 partner organizations of BioS consortium and was the ideal host for our event. Not only was the meeting facilitated in a smooth and flawless manner, also the evening in the typical Cyprus restaurant right next to the beach made all participants feel very welcome.
Except for one organization, all partners were represented in the meeting. This gave us the chance to discuss in person about the project development and tasks to come. The personal discussions on work-packages, milestones and challenges supported the flow of the process. The consortium agreed to mobilize all its resources in order to start the BioS Course on February 3rd 2020.
After finalizing the training content, the focus now lies on the promotion of our course in order to guarantee the highest possible impact.
